Client Feature

I love to give my clients names which signify their beauty so this is "Flower" 8 weeks post installation.

6 months later and you can see how her hair has really swelled up nicely. Some times all we need is a little patience.

This is "Peaches" sporting 5 flat twists to the left side. Her locks are just over 1 year and her hair is changing very quickly.

Peaches told me that her hair was too short to do any style and as you can see by the lovely smile on her face I proved her wrong.  Not sure if you can see the detail of the front of her hair which had 2 large flat rolls which I pinned either side of a fringe.

This is the back of her hair which I did in a french roll using longer length pins.  She left my house to go and show off her new hair style to her Sister!

I think I am really getting into the styling of locks and luckily my clients enjoy it too.

I never know what I am going to do as it just flows from my mind.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for your comments Ofo and Msfullroller for your question above are the pins used.  I find that even in shorter hair if I use short pins they don't remain in place as the hair pushes them out so I use these extra long ones.

Ascot at 42 Months

I did this style with my Ascot head dress in mind. This is the back of my hair at 42 months.  I made some large twists to the mid back of my head using hair to secure the ends. My hair has curls from 5 days ago.

This is a side view of my dress, which was backless. I made some curly bangs to the left side of my face using medium sized perm rods.

Front view of the dress, which also had a bustle.
And of course my hat which was actually a fascinator.

Hope you enjoyed these photos.

Wrap a loc Take Down

Just to remind you above is the result of freshly washed locks. I was 6 weeks post re tightening and was due.  This picture shows the right side of my hair which was twisted over on itself.

Left side of my hair with wrap a locs installed.
Close us shot.  I found the wrap a locs very easy to sleep in especially as they became looser over time.  They left my hair stretched.  I have thin hair so like to wear curls to give my locks body and these wrap a locs did the trick.  I was left with tight, Shirley temple, curls which lasted the whole week through gym work outs and until I washed my hair.
They were easy to take out, this side shot is after a work out and I had inadvertently rinsed my hair before I remembered I had to post these shots, hence the straighter hair at the back but the curls were still present.
Close up.  Next time I will make sure that I have my re tightening done first so that I can keep them in longer.  I loved the wrap the  loc system as a quick and long lasting, 2 style option for curling my locks.
Hope you enjoyed this and don't forget to comment.  Kittylocks x

Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2011 Part 2

As you can see I was not the only one who had my hair styled for the show.  Enter my friend who had a wicked braid style as below:

3 1/2 year old Sisterlocks (TM) freshly washed and you can see by the look on her face that she is ready to be styled by Ansylla the originator of http://www.MyHairitage.com

This is the top of her head, her crown and with hair adornments supplied by Distinctive Darlings by PJ.

These side views show how her own hair was wrapped around each other to create this beautiful look.

Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2011 Part 1

Hi there I was asked by a friend to be a model for the Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2011 held in Islington over the recent bank holiday.  We were supporting one of two natural hair stands at the show courtesy of Ansylla from  http://www.MyHairitage.com which provides holistic hair care.  See here for her picture and her site.
Of course one cant be seen modelling without the appropriate clothing. Above is PJ from Distinctive Darlings who provided our afrocentric clothing.  Sorry I was too busy to get any pics of me wearing one of her outfits.
I attended with freshly washed unstyled locks and was given the wrap a lock treatment by Sistah Nandi who is the inventor of this product. see http://www.wrapaloc.com This is me with little make up. I had a great time meeting new people and stayed much later than I had planned and left very tired and hungry as there was no time to eat!
I don't usually wear a lot of make up as I have very sensitive skin and only wear one brand, Mary Kay.  Enter Curtis make up artist for http://www.dorismichaelscosmetics.com and this was my final look.
I went to work yesterday and today feeling like a Queen and floating.

I got comments like "you have blue eyes", "your hair style really opens up your face", I have to keep staring at you", "that hair takes years off you", "please make sure you wear this style all the time because it really suits you".

I wish I could.  My hair is sheduled to be re tightened on Saturday, 2 days left to wear my hair like this so unfortunately I will have to take them down.

Pics of this will follow.

Enjoy and keep the natural hair growing naturally.

Up do front

This picture shows the front of the up do style. I really liked this look and will do this again but with braids for a tighter curl. Hope you enjoy these pictures. Kittylocks.

Up do

After taking down the twists I loosely pinned up the back and used a hair band to hold up the front to create this style . Kittylocks.

Hair Take down

This is how my hair looked when I took it down. My curls were less defined and looser than when I braid my hair. I don't think that I will do this again as it was a bit more effort in having to twist my hair for this look . Hope you can see this picture as it is a bit dark. Enjoy Kittylocks
