Day of the Goddess 2011 Part 3
Look at this...
This is one of the organisers and originators of Day of the Goddess events and she looked absolutely wonderful on the day. I wish I had managed to capture a full length picture of her out fit which matched her hair in terms of creativity.
You will notice that my picture is absent as I really wanted to share with you the beauty that is woman.
And finally this is "Spiritlocks" whom I maintain her 39 month old Sisterlocks(TM) I just love this colour, it matches her spirit and her smile.
I hope that you enjoyed these pictures from day of the Goddess 2011, I know I will be buying my ticket early for next year as I don't want to miss this.
Enjoy and don't forget to comment.
Until next time Kittylocks XX
Day of the Goddess Part 2
Self maintained 4 year Sisterlocks (tm) doesn't she look good
This lady performed a great story which was funny as well as thought provoking. Pictured with her Daughter.
Final pics to follow...
Day of the Goddess 2011 Part 1
I attended an awe inspiring day for women only to celebrate womanhood named the Day of the Goddess 2011. With consent I managed to snap some beautiful women and have to share them with you.
Just look at that smile!
This lady really knows that she is beautiful.
This lady has 6 year old traditional and coloured locks which compliment her skin tone.
Self styled using 2 strand twists wow!
No offence to any women not photographed I was having so much fun I just could not photograph everyone. The day entailed drumming, singing, chanting, performances, opportunities to purchase hand crafted items such as clothing, jewelry and hand made oils, scents ....
Time to just be in the company of positive women and celebrate the joy.

Guess Where ?
Hi there as you know I have a hot foot and love long haul travel. Well guess where I have been?
Yes you were right, I went to Jamaica for 2 weeks in the Sun. After the coldest winter in England for 100 years my hair desperately needed some real vitamin D. I stayed in Run Away Bay and Montego Bay, 2 weeks all inclusive on the beach....
I saw all different locks, they were everywhere. Many people stopped me to ask me about my hair.
Temperatures went up to 30 degrees even though it was winter there. I wore my hair mainly up at night and down during the day. This is me going out for the night to celebrate my birthday.
This is me trying not to fall out of a hammock! even in the early evening it was still quite hot!
I have to get the obligatory beach shot in. I rinsed my hair daily using conditioner after either lounging on the beach and or swimming in the sea and washed weekly with shampoo. Initially I was worried that my hair might get dry due to the sudden weather change but I did not need to use any moisturiser at all.
Me at Dunn's river falls. When I came home my hair had really really grown. Looks like I will have to keep traveling to accelerate my hair growth never mind taking Biotin or multivitamins I just need some real sun lol...
I am already planning my next jaunt!

3 Years
Happy birthday to me. My Sisterlocks (TM) are now 3 years old.
Picture below are week old curls made by spritzing and braiding at night. You can really see the length here.

My sides are getting in the way now and have been getting caught up in my hand bag strap, when I am eating and working at my desk or computer so I have broken a few locks at my hair line, (pics to follow) without realising it. Now when driving I tie my hair out of the way of the seat belt and when eating or working at my desk.

I find that I am braiding my hair less and tending to wear it down more.
Just thought I would put in a pic of my favourite style which is me wearing curls.
My challenges this year have been not knowing how to care for my hair during adverse weather conditions. This is the worst winter that England has had for over 100 years so no one was prepared and apparently there is more snow to come GROAN...
I am a sun worshiper and so are my locks...
I have learnt never to go out with wet hair otherwise this can cause mildew and breakage.
To increase my moisturizer to daily spritzing.
Always go out wearing a hat even if this is to go to and from my car as this protects my locks from the harsh winter wind which can do as much damage as cold rain and snow.
My Goals:
I want to do more styles with my hair. I noticed that when my hair was shorter I made more of an effort.
To increase my retightening regime to 6 instead of 8 weekly as my hair seems to be going through a growth spurt.
To be better at doing monthly deep conditioning as I have become busy these have been neglected.
Finally to have healthy, long hair...
Hope you enjoyed these.

Snowed in
This is the view of my drive this morning on my second day of being snowed in.
Anyone who lives in England knows that we have a history of being unable to cope with any type of weather conditions. Whether this is the wrong type of leaves, too much rain causing mass flooding or now too much snow.
We are apparently making history for being below temperatures and having such heavy and early snow.
People have been stranded in their cars on the roads for hours and even days.
Airports are closed.
There are no trains running.
Busses are very scarce.
Roads and pavements have not been gritted or sanded.
You may just be able to make out the top of my car.
The picture below was yesterday morning, it continued to snow all night and day results above.
Lots of phone calls.

What have I done in these 2 days?
I have actually been working via the wonderful Blackberry! boo hoo don't cry!
also done all my washing, all my ironing, lots of cooking.
Now thinking of stripping some wall paper in the spare bedroom .......lol
I am hoping that I may be able to get out some time soooooooooooooon

35 months
I cant believe that it is soon to be 3 years since the birth of my sisterlocks (TM).
Are they real? yes
Is each and every one of them different? yes just as every hair on my head is different.
And I still love them all the same.
Enjoy
