Here is Gardenia 13 weeks after her installation.
This shot is after her retightening. The back of her hair was uneven with a gap in the middle. Her hair has now swollen and lengthened so that it is nearly all one length at the back. You can still see traces of the relaxer near her ends.
Her temple area was sparce with a broken hair line and I was unable to install any locks there at all. Now its filling in nicely.
This is really good progress in a short space of time and demonstrates just how forgiving Sisterlocks (TM) are.
She's really loving her hair.
Another beauty.
Until next time

Client Feature, Gardenia
I am often asked whether it necessary for clients to cut off their relaxed hair in order to have Sisterlocks(TM) installed.
The answer is that it depends on client preference. As long as there is 1 1/2 inches of virgin hair then Sisterlocks(TM can be installed.
Here is Gardenia, she had been growing out the relaxer for 6 months prior to her installation.
There is still quite a bit of relaxer in her hair.
She had a damaged hair line with hair loss visible at her temples.
Gardenia can roll her hair on rollers or rods (with out any bristles or teeth) so that the different textures are less visible. Over time she may decide whether she wants to cut these ends off or not.
I will keep you updated on Gardenias progress 4 weeks post installation.
See you next time

Client Feature, Rose
Here is Rose. In this before shot you can see Rose hair which has been natural for about 4 years having grown out a relaxer.
She used to wear her hair in braids and twists.
Her hair still had relaxer in it and was dead straight at the nape, with some split ends and some damage to her temples.
However Sisterlocks(TM) are very forgiving and this is the end result after 9 hours 20 minutes.
UPDATE BELOW: 6 weeks later and her hair has swollen nicely.
The relaxer is still there.
As her hair grows out over time she can decide whether she wishes to cut the relaxer off or leave the 2 textures.
Hope you enjoyed these.

Client Feature: Princess
I would like to introduce my youngest Sisterlocks(TM) client named Princess. At the tender age of 6 she had never relaxed her hair and wore braided and twisted styles. As you can see she has some thinning at her temple area, around her ears and there was also some thinning to the nape of her neck.
The body of her hair however was long and plentiful.
9 hours and many cartoons later and Princess had started her journey. She was so excited but she managed to sit and even had a small nap whilst her hair was being transformed. Over time these thinning areas will fill in with new hair and new locks will be installed.
After her installation she went on holiday and was swimming in the sea and pool every day. Sisterlocks(TM) are so versatile that you can do this straight away without fear of them coming undone.
Sisterlocks(TM) can be installed on younger children as long as they are able and willing to sit for them in comfort and with many breaks.
Her journey has started and now she tells her mummy "no slip" meaning no grease, no oils, no conditioner, no sprays, no gels and her hair will grow looooong!
I will keep you posted on Princess journey.
Happy hair

Client Feature, Hyacinth
This is Hyacinth installation. She has never worn her natural hair out and usually wears wigs or adds extensions to her hair. After doing her research she chose to come home to Sisterlocks(TM). She shaved her hair and allowed it to grow out into this even shape below.
The style below was created by making 3 large, loose flat twist up to the top of her hair and secured using her locks. The front is in 2 large braids which when taken out will be a fringe with a middle parting.
Her hair looks very glossy and shiny in these pictures but as time goes by and her locks begin to change and swell, I would expect her locks to lose this glossy look.
I have to share with you that once her installation was completed I could not keep Hyacinth away from the mirror, she was examining her hair this way and that way and playing with it.
She chose to go home wearing 2 low bunches.
Hyacinth swims regularly so I gave her some instructions of how to keep her new Sisterlocks(TM) in tact.
Watch out for her updates.
Enjoy

16 hours and 20 minutes later and she is on her Sisterlocks(TM) journey. It is a very satisfying and humbling experience to play a part in some ones natural hair journey.

Client Feature, "Petals"
This is the top of her head and you can see the ends still have some relaxer therby forming the curly qs on the ends. These may eventually seal and or drop off or form the buds which will seal the end of her locks.
Side view.
Enjoy

Client Feature, Orchid
Now you have not seen Orchid for a while so here is her update. I did her install last year 2010 Christmas week and here she is.
This is her finished and she went from this...
To this in under a year. She has very dense hair and had thinning at the sides, this has now filled in and her hair has swollen and she has gained a lot of length.
Her hair was retightened and cornrowed on the sides and the top was secured with a hair pin to make a little crown. The back was left out and straight this time.
I count myself blessed to be in the company of such beautiful women...
Until next time.

Client Feature, Peaches
Here is peaches again sporting a lock hawk.
I am on a quest to demonstrate that many styles may be created on short to medium length locks. After re tightening side locks were lightly flat twisted up to the centre and rubber bands were used to secure them. I made 2 ponytails at the back secured by rubber bands.
Front view showing her fringe and this very sophisticated style.
Enjoy xx Kittylocks

Client Feature
I love to give my clients names which signify their beauty so this is "Flower" 8 weeks post installation.
6 months later and you can see how her hair has really swelled up nicely. Some times all we need is a little patience.
This is "Peaches" sporting 5 flat twists to the left side. Her locks are just over 1 year and her hair is changing very quickly.
Peaches told me that her hair was too short to do any style and as you can see by the lovely smile on her face I proved her wrong. Not sure if you can see the detail of the front of her hair which had 2 large flat rolls which I pinned either side of a fringe.
This is the back of her hair which I did in a french roll using longer length pins. She left my house to go and show off her new hair style to her Sister!
I think I am really getting into the styling of locks and luckily my clients enjoy it too.
I never know what I am going to do as it just flows from my mind.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for your comments Ofo and Msfullroller for your question above are the pins used. I find that even in shorter hair if I use short pins they don't remain in place as the hair pushes them out so I use these extra long ones.
Kittylocks xx
